Diabetes is the most common cause for amputation in Malaysia.  As announced by the ministry of Health in 2015, about 3.5 million or 17.5% of Malaysians aged 18 years and above have diabetes.  The statistics show continuous increase over the years.  Hence, the country will need more prosthetists and orthotists to take care of the increasing number of amputee patients in the future.

Shocking fact : Based on the National Morbidity Study announced last year, Malaysia is already among the countries with high number of diabetic sufferers in South East Asia in 2015.
